Data Scientist (m/f/d)

Look into the future with our data.

As a Data Scientist (m/f/d), you inspect and evaluate existing databases to create new knowledge and make the best possible conclusions for Paymenttools. Where others lose overview, you only start. For you, Big Data is not a collection of hieroglyphics, but a melting pot of valuable information to achieve goals.

Modern payment methods are something quite wonderful. Apple Pay, PayPal, credit card - the list of payment options is huge. But unfortunately, this leads to pain and confusion for consumers and retailers. You already experienced it.

We, paymenttools, are a start-up of the REWE Group and want to clean up the confusion in the world of payment traffic in Europe. And later in the whole solar system. In other words: #wesolvepayn.

You deliver value: as a Data Scientist, you drive the automation processes of our system landscape. Even in chaotic data, you keep a cool head and know how to structure, cluster and evaluate the data. You use scientific methods, algorithms and state-of-the-art digital tools to find the needle in the data haystack.

Your tasks

  • You will be responsible for building and further developing e.g. forecasts, segmentations, analytics, ML/AI algorithms and conclusion engines
  • You participate in the joint further development of our Big Data and Analytics architecture of customized products in close cooperation with cross-disciplinary teams
  • You investigate large data sets using state-of-the-art data science methods and approaches such as classification, clustering and pattern search
  • You always have the big picture in mind: You take over the visualization of existing programs and dedicate yourself to the automation of existing processes
  • Checking data, deriving hypotheses and verifying hypotheses are the be-all and end-all for you, while always critically questioning the status quo
  • You will support projects throughout their lifecycle: from the creation of a use case to the development of a proof-of-concept to the production phase and handover
  • You will analyze data from different sources and systems in order to preparethem
  • You will develop your own machine learning models

Your experiences

  • You have a degree in computer science, data science, mathematics or physics
  • You have basic knowledge of coding, know how to adapt and create data models and algorithms and understand different problem and solution cluster
  • Forecasts, regression and linear models, neural networks and statistical tests are your allies
  • Programming is your passion: your heart beats faster with R and Python
  • You have already worked with frameworks such as tidyverse, ggplot, scikit-learn, pytorch, or Jupyter
  • You understand the needs of different parties to help them with the data and can communicate your solution to people who are not from the data space
  • You are familiar with Big Data tools as well as Cloud technologies and live technical innovation. You are always up to date with new technologies
  • You have a solid knowledge of SQL and relational databases as well as advanced knowledge of common architectures and processes for data processing

Your benefits

  • short decision-making paths and great scope for decision-making
  • hybrid work from anywhere you have internet access. As long as the view is right!
  • flexible working hours that fit your workflow, as long as you can make it to our meetings every now and then
  • responsibility from day one
  • creative freedom for your ideas, impulses and tools you like to use
  • wide scope for the choice of your smartphone & notebook
  • your job ticket in the VRS (+ VRR)
  • Job-Rad
